Self-assembly of carbon nanotubes and boron nitride via electrostatic interaction for high thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity epoxy composites |

Abstract The oxidized multi-wall carbon nanotubes (oCNTs) were self-assembled on the edges of silane treated hexagonal boron nitrides (oCNTs@fBN) via elastrostatic interaction as a filler in epoxy matrix. The thermal conductivity and volume resistivity of oCNTs@fBN filled epoxy matrix as a function of fillers content were investigated. At 20 wt% of oCNTs@fBN10 in epoxy matrix, the thermal conductivity of epoxy composites was increased more than 563% as compared to that of neat epoxy. The enhancement of thermal conductivity was due to the formation of continuously thermal pathways between oCNTs and fBN fillers. In addition, the well dispersion and better compatibility of oCNTs@fBN filler and epoxy matrix could be attributed to the improvement of thermal conductivity. Moreover, epoxy composites show the insulation properties even at high content of fillers. |
