Vibration-sensitive flexible sensors have been widely researched for wearable device to detect human voice. However, previously developed vibration sensors did not satisfy sufficient sensing performances to clearly recognize human voice in harsh acoustic environment. Here, we developed a highly sensitive wearable vibration sensor designed by introducing electret material to a flexible capacitive diaphragm structure. Our device exhibits a high vibration sensitivity and a flat frequency response over the range of vocal frequency, due to the polymer diaphragm with low stiffness and low damping properties. We optimized charging properties of electret diaphragm, which achieve high portability and sensitivity of the device by reducing the external power source for operation. Our device accurately recognizes human voice even in a harsh acoustic environment by detecting human voice through neck skin vibration. |
