제목 Photoresponsive behavior of polymer blend system composed of azobenzene-carrying salt monomer and hydrophilic polymer
초록 New materials with photomechanical switching ability were developed. The materials are binary polymer blends composed of azobenzene-carrying salt monomers and hydrophilic polymers as a matrix. Photoisomerization behavior was characterized in terms of influences of monomer structure and polymer type. Upon switching UV and Visible irradiation, the developed polymer blend showed the successful isomerization of the azobenzene moieties in polymer matrix. In addition, these materials showed deformation that was both rapid and reversible. This observed photomechanical effect is attributed to a reversible modulus changed in the polymer blend, arising from an light-controlled isomerization of the azobenzene moiety.
