제목 Benzocyclobutene-Fullerene Bisadducts as Novel Electron Acceptors for High-Voltage Polymer Solar Cells
초록 A new 56 π-electron fullerene acceptor material, benzocyclobutene-C60 bis-adducts (BCBCBA), was synthesized via the [2+2] cycloaddition of in-situ generated benzyne with C60 to raise the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy level of the fullerene. The LUMO level of BCBCBA was as high as -3.70 eV, which is -0.16 eV higher than that of phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) (-3.86 eV). This result indicates the significant potential for producing high open-circuit voltage (VOC) values in polymer solar cells (PSCs). The poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT):BCBCBA-based PSC device shows VOC and power conversion efficiency (PCE) values (VOC= 0.75 V and PCE= 3.20%) similar to those of bis-PCBM-based device (VOC= 0.74 V and PCE= 3.07%). On the other hand, four-membered linkages to C60 of BCBCBA operate worked as small addends, thus minimized the adverse effects of the presence of the regioisomers on the formation of the close-packing behavior between fullerene bis-adducts.
