A single sheet of three-dimensional paper-based analytical device |

Three-dimensional paper-based microfluidic devices can run fluid to vertically and horizontally in a compact device. This capability makes it possible to carry out a range of new analytical devices for digital and multi assay. Despite the advantage, general fabrication process was still time consuming, since original three-dimensional paper-based analytical device was fabricated by staking multilayers of paper with tape and punching a hold the layers to contact with adjacent paper. We demonstrate a new method to fabricate three-dimensional network in a sing layer of paper by double-side printing and double-side heating in laminator that it takes just 1min. We assume that this rapid method will give simplicity to conventional method and be closer to zero cost production system for affordable three-dimensional paper-based analytical device that is appropriate for use in home-diagnosis tool in the developing world and aging society. |
