A Novel Nitric Oxide Delivery Platform using Bio-Inspired Adhesive Catecholamines |
초록 |
Development of a novel strategy for controlled release of nitric oxide (NO) directly from surfaces of medical devices has been a challenging subject for implementing the immense potential of NO in biomedical application. Herein, we describe a facile and versatile strategy for local NO delivery. Simple two-step reactions comprising catecholamine and diazeniumdiolates enable virtually any material surfaces to release NO with appreciable storage. To demonstrate the potential of our strategy in bioapplication, the antibacterial ability was investigated and, the modified surfaces were found to inhibit the bacterial adhesion and kill the adhered bacteria without cytotoxicity. This localized NO-delivery strategy is expected to offer a versatile platform which could trigger the advancement of NO-mediated biomedical domains such as wound healing or anti-restenosis as well as prevention of implant-associated infection. |
