Stimuli-responsive polymers have been of research interests due to their potential in many applications such as integrated optical devices, sensors and drug delivery agents. Especially, polymers which can respond to multiple stimuli have been of challenge because the polymers can show various self-assembly behavior by different stimuli. In this study, well-defined dual-stimuli responsive block copolymers were synthesized. The block copolymers were produced by chain-growth condensation polymerization (CGCP) of photoresponsive azobenzene moieties for rod block followed by end-group modification, and subsequent atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of 2-(2-methoxyethoxy) ethyl methacrylate (MEO2MA) and oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (OEGMA) to induce thermoresponsive coil blocks. Detailed synthetic scheme and stimuli-responsive behaviors will be presented. |
