Nano-cellulose, which is defined as nano-scale structural dimensions of cellulose has been raised a growing interest on many researchers for past few years due to its high throughput application. It can be applied in various areas such as paper making, coating additives, food packaging and biopharmaceutical devices, etc. However, preparing cellulosic material in nano-scale with better mechanical properties and environmental impact could be a challenge. In this study, cellulose nanocrystals synthesized from oak wood by chemical method shows promising result for further application with higher crystallinity. Oak tree was removed hemicellulose and lignin by 2-stage alkaline and acid pretreatment before hydrolyzation. Also, the various of remaining lignin content on the formation of cellulose nanocrystal are also considered to changes in nano-cellulose thin film properties. Morphological observation, size distribution, hydrophobicity and thermal stability are provided in this poster. |
