In the present work, the acidbase composite membranes were prepared using highly sulfonated poly (aryl ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) and base polymer (PEI, PVP, PANI). The structures of composite membrane become more compact than that of SPEEK, due to the acidbase interaction between the sulfonic acid groups and amine groups, which could lead to the increase of mechanical properties/ thermal stability and the reduction of excess swelling. Proton conductivity of the membrane was measured using an impedance spectroscopy. Methanol permeability was measured using a diffusion cell with a refractive index (RI) detector to monitor the variation of methanol concentration in the permeated compartment. Thermal properties were investigated using TGA. The proton conductivity and methanol permeability of the composite membranes was dependent on the content of base polymer |
