The Poly(lactic acid)(PLA)-grafted-Acrylic acid(AAc) copolymers were synthesized by UV radiation-induced copolymerization of AAc onto PLA. The structures of the PLA-g-AAc copolymers were determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and mophologies were confirmed by Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM). We studied the degree of grafting relative to the synthetic conditions, such as the concentration of AAc and Benzophenone(BP), photo-initiator, reaction time, and intensity of UV radiation. The optimum degree of grafting obtained at a reaction time of 60 min, the AAc concentration of 1.0 mol/L and the BP concentration of 0.1 mol/L. The PLA-g-AAc were applied to exchange metal ions in water . |
