Chitosan is a linear polymer and is usually obtained by alkaline deacetylation of chitin, which is the second most abundant biopolymer in nature cellulose. Chitosan has amino groups and hydroxyl groups in its back bone: It’s composition renders chitosan itself hydrophilic, but at the same time makes chitosan weakly basic. In this study, chitosan and poly(D,L-lactic-co-glycolic acid)( PLGA) mixture solution was prepared using solvents of low toxicity and rapid vaporization to leave the nanofibers. Various ratio of the chitosan and PLGA nanofibers were examined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Electrospinning of pure chitosan or PLGA has been investigated as biomaterials respectively. Up to the now, however, the more promising elctrospinning of chitosan with PLGA complex has not been reported. The objective of the study is to prepare nano-fibrous scaffold composed of chitosan with PLGA in order to evaluate the possibility of using these scaffolds. |
