There has been considerable interest in Poly (l-lactic acid) (PLLA) due to its renewable resources. However, PLLA has been limited to use the practical application fields due to impact strength and heat distortion temperature. Preparation of polymer layered silicate nanocomposite (PLSN) is the one of the effect methods to make up for the weak points. The physical properties of the PLSN are strongly dependent upon surface properties of layered silicate such as montmorillonite (MMT). In this study, surface treated MMT was obtained by reaction of Cloisite 30B and hexamethylene diisocyanate (30BM). The PLSN was fabricated via solvent-cast blend with various clay contents (30B, 30BM). The chemical structure of the surface treated MMT was analyzed using FTIR. Thermal properties of PLSNs were measured using DSC. WAXD measurement was carried out to confirm the dispersibility of the MMT. The mechanical properties of PLSNs were tested by UTM, DMTA. |
