Preparation of Polymeric Nanoparticles Bearing Europium (III) From Poly(glycolic acid-aminophenanethroline-aspartic acid)-co-Poly(L-lactic acid) |

Biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles have been extensively studied as a drug delivery and bio-imaging system for several decades. In this study, we prepared europium (III) coordinated poly(glycolic acid-aminophenanethroline-aspartic acid)-poly(L-lactic acid) copolymer nanoparticles. Lanthanide ion complexes have sharp emission bands and high photoluminescence efficiency. First, we prepared a poly[Glc-Asp(OBzl)]-poly(L-lactic acid) copolymer by ring opening polymerization of cyclo(glycolic acid-benzylaspartic acid) and L-lactide. After deprotection, the copolymer was reacted with aminophenanethroline. Nanoparticles were obtained by an emulsion-solvent evaporation method from the polymer and an europium (III) complex. We expect that these nanoparticles could be used for bio-imaging. |
