Near infrared laser-induced drug release of thermoresponsive nanovesicles containing melanin |

The aim of this study is to induce and control drug release of liposome using near infrared (NIR) laser. In this study, phospholipids and poly-(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylamide) (PNIPAM) composite nanovesicle was prepared and melanin as a photo-heat conversion material was added. The mean diameter of the nanovesicle was 177±14 nm and spherical shape was observed. The nanovesicle was stable in PBS buffer for longer than 7 days. After NIR 808 nm laser irradiation at 1.5 W/cm2 for 7 min, the temperature of nanovesicle solution has increased from 20.5℃ to 51℃. In drug release study, after the laser irradiation, 5-FU loaded into the nanovesicles showed the faster drug release compared with the group not irradiated with the laser. Furthermore, as the amount of PNIPAM increased, the rate of drug release increased more rapidly. The nanovesicle are expected to be useful as a drug delivery carrier for inducing drug release by NIR laser irradiation. |
