Prepared of Uniform Polycaprolactone Antibiotics Microspheres using a Simple Fluidic Device with a Tapered Glass Capillary |
초록 |
Uniform polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres containing a variety of water-soluble antibiotics such as tobramycin, vancomycin, and gentamincin were prepared by a simple fluidic device with or without a tapered glass capillary. A tapered glass capillary was also tested to produce PCL microspheres with smaller sizes. The size of the PCL microspheres were reduced from 47.46 ± 0.72 um to 25.49 ± 1.05 um without destroying the uniformity in size, compared to the fluidic device using a pristine glass capillary. That size range should be suitable for a parenteral injection into the human body. We also evaluated antimicrobial activities of each type of antibiotic released from the PCL microspheres using Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli). |
