Methotrexate-encapsulated polymeric micelles of methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-grafted chitosan |

We synthesized methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG)-grafted chitosan (ChitoPEG) copolymer to prepare methotrexate (MTX)-encapsulated polymeric micelles. MTX-encapsulated polymeric micelle of ChitoPEG copolymer was prepared by mixing of MTX/DMSO solution into ChitoPEG/deionized water. At TEM observation, MTX-encapsulated polymeric micelle of ChitoPEG has spherical shapes and their particle size was around 50 nm. In 1H NMR study, the specific peaks of MTX and ChitoPEG was observed at DMSO or DCl/D2O mixtures. MTX-incorporated polymeric micelle of ChitoPEG showed specific peaks both of MTX and ChitoPEG. When polymeric micelle was in D2O, specific peaks of MTX was disappeared while MPEG peaks were obtained, indicating that MTX and chitosan main chain composed of inner-core of polymeric micelle and MPEG composed of outershell. |
