제목 | Platinum Deposition on Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes |
초록 | Since Iijima had found in 1991, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) have used for research in various fields due to their special mechanical and electronic properties. Because MWCNTs show high surface area and high electrical conductivity, they can be applied to the electrode materials such as catalyst supports for fuel cells. To use the platinum (Pt) for electrocatalyst of fuel cell system, nanosized Pt particles must be dispersed on MWCNTs uniformly. In this report, we compared characteristics of electrocatalysts as deposition methods on MWCNTs. After MWCNT surfaces were oxidized by HNO3 or HNO3/H2SO4, Pt reduction process was carried out with reducing agents by colloidal method. Aqueous media and ethylene glycol media were applied for colloidal method, respectively. To characterize Pt particle structure and size, we measured with high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses were performed to characterize oxidized MWCNTs and Pt deposited MWCNTs. Also, the catalytic activity of each electrocatalysts was evaluated by potentiostat in the cyclic voltammetry mode. |
