In this study, activated carbon (AC) was synthesized by chemical activation. Chemical activating reagent was potassium hydroxide (KOH). The effect of quantity of activating molecules on methane storage was investigated by experience of AC/KOH mass ratio. The textural properties were characterized by BET, ICP. The N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms were measured at 77 K and calculated by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) equation. Methane storage capacity was evaluated with a Model BEL-HP instrument (BEL Co., Ltd., Japan) at 298 K and 35 bar. The metal impurity residue in activated carbon was quantified by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES) (Optima 7300DV, PerkinElmer). From the result, specific surface area and micropore volume on activated carbon was tunable by activation condition. Optimization of activated reagent amount leads to enhancement of methane storage capacity. |
