Enhanced crystallization, mechanical properties and hydrolytic degradation of poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA)/halloysite nanotube(HNT) nanocomposites |
초록 |
Polymer inorganic nanocomposites have attracted considerable attention during recent decades because they exhibit greatly improved physical and mechanical properties at relatively low filler loading levels in comparison with conventional microcomposites. Halloysite nanotube (HNT), a type of tubular nanoclay, has been recognized as an effective nanofiller for various polymers. In this study, biodegradable poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA)/glycidyl silane modified HNT nanocomposites were prepared via melt blending in an internal mixer. Transmission electron microscopy observations reveal a uniform and nanoscaled dispersion of the HNTs in the PLLA matrix. The presence of the HNTs enhances the crystallization of PLLA in the nanocomposites compared with that of neat PLLA. Improved storage modulus and enhanced hydrolytic degradation in the PLLA/HNT nanocomposites as compared to neat PLA were also observed. |
