제목 In vivo imaging and regression of high-risk plaques with photoactivatable nanoagents
초록 A novel scavenger receptor-A-targeted photoactivatable theranostic nanoagents were developed by the chemical reaction of dextran sulfate with chlorin e6. The theranostic nanogents were taken up by the activated macrophages and induced cell death after light irradiation. After the injection of theranostic nanoagents in apoE knockout mice with FITC-dextran angiography, carotid images done by intravital fluorescence microscope showed clear detection of the plaque macrophages. After carotid IVFM imaging, light irradiation was performed with a diode laser . At 1 and 4 weeks after laser irradiation, a serial IVFM imaging showed a significant decrease of fluorescence signals at plaque macrophages in vivo compared to the base line. Also, histological analysis demonstrated the reduction of macrophages and increase of collagen formation in the plaque, implying the plaque stabilization.
