제목 | Mechanical Behaviors of Polysilsesquioxane/P4VP Multilayer Films |
초록 | Charaterizing the mechanical properties of materials at micro-/nanometer scales has become a very active area of researches. In recent years, nanoindentation using load and displacement sensing indentation is one of the most popular techniques to measure mechanical properties of thin films . Inorganic/organic multilayer thin films are mimicking nacre, which is a ceramic laminated biocomposite with exceptional mechanical properties of fracture toughness and strength. Even though containing about 1 vol% polymer, it is twice as hard and 1,000 times as tough as its constituent phase. In this study, inorganic/organic multilayer films were composed of silica and poly-4-vinylpyridine (P4VP). Silica sol was prepared by an acid-catalyzed hydrolysis and condensation of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS). Multilayer films were fabricated using spin self-assembly based on the hydrogen bonding between silica and P4VP. After deposition of silica sols, samples were annealed at 180℃ for gelation of inorganic layers. Mechanical properties of multilayer films were measured by nanoindentation. |
