Transesterification of different oil to produce biodiesel using mixed metal oxide catalyst |

Due to the increase in the price of the petroleum and the environmental concerns about pollution coming from the car gases, biodiesel fuels have received considerable attention. Biodiesel is generally made from vegetable oils or animal fats by transesterification with alcohol using an acid or base catalyst. In this work, mixed metal oxide catalyst has been prepared for transesterification of different oils to produce biodiesel. The reactions were carried out in an stirred autoclave reactor or a conventional heated reactor. The catalyst had been characterized by XRD, FT-IR and the yield of fatty acid methyl ester was analyzed byGC. As a result, metal oxide catalyst improved methyl ester contents. |
