A novel nanocomposite based on poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) and silane-modified sodium montmorillonite / silica core–shell nanoparticles |
초록 |
A novel nanocomposite was fabricated based on poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (PEAA) and silane-modified sodium montmorillonite / silica core–shell nanoparticles (SMMS) with solution-casting method. Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (G-silane) surface-modified sodium montmorillonite (SMM) was also introduced into PEAA matrix for comparison. SMMS significantly improved the mechanical properties of the PEAA compared to that of SMM. XRD confirmed that the PEAA chains were intercalated into the interlayers of SMM particles. The composite filled with a low loading of SMKS increased the tensile strength and toughness. These significant improvements in these mechanical properties were attributed to the fine dispersion of SMKS into the polymer and covalent interaction between polymer chains and the surface of SMMS. |
