제목 Vertical Alignment of Carbon Nanotubes Dotted with Magnetic Particles
초록 Because of their excellent electronic and physicochemical properties, Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) are the material of ever-increasing concern. One of the applications of CNTs is the electron emitters for field emission.1 Practical applications require that CNTs can be aligned vertically at large-scale low magnetic field. The assembly of CNTs dotting magnetic particles is one of the most challenging tasks in the fabrication and mass production of CNT electronic devices, such as sensors and field effect transistors. The magnetic particles were constructed via thermal decomposition in high boiling solvent (1-octadecene) by metal chloride and sodium oleate.2 The magnetic particles were attached to the CNTs during termal reaction precess. We report a method for vertical alignment of CNTs by a magnetic field using the CNTs attached metal particles. Transmission electron microscope(TEM) revealed the CNTs dotted with magnetic particles. It was observed macroscopically that the behavior of CNTs dotted with magnetic particles in low magnetic field. We expect that the attachment of metal particles to CNTs play an important role in the future devices applications.
