Since electrospinning was invented a few decades ago, it has been developed by many researchers. A lot of polymers have been also prepared as electrospun nonwoven mats. Nevertheless, it is an obstacle to applications that usual electrospinning is exposed to a number of variables, so the electrospun mats has poor mechanical properties. In this work, we induced electrospinning process under vacuum with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly buthylene terephthalate (PBT) in order to control ambient parameters and to improve the mechanical properties. Each PVA and PBT was prepared as a solution dissolved in distilled water and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). Nonwoven mats were prepared with these polymer solutions by electrospinning both at the atmosphere and in a vacuum desiccator, and then were compared them. As the result, we have found different morphology and other properties between the process at atmospheric pressure and under vacuum. These nonwoven mats have been analyzed by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a universal tensile machine (UTM).
