제목 First Principles Study on the Electrochemical Dissolution Processes of Pt Nanocatalysts
초록 To understand electrochemical degradation mechanisms of fuel cell catalysts, we ab-initio calculate dissolution potentials of nano-scale Pt particles as function of size and morphology. We investigate electrochemical stability of each symmetrically inequivalent site to identify thermodynamically the most plausible dissolution way. Our results indicate that Pt nanocatalysts of less than 3nm degrade through shell by shell dissolutions into acidic aqueous solution, but the electrochemical durability enhances as particle size increases.
