For decades, the nanoparticle-based materials have been actively studied in various fields of biomedical and clinical research. However, a systematic understanding of interactions between the physico-chemical surface properties of the nanoparticles and their adsorption/uptake tendencies by living cells is still missing. Herein, in order to expand the knowledge on the correlation between the surface chemistry of nanoparticles and cell penetration property, we prepared a set of QD-embedded silica nanoparticles (SiO2@QDs@SiO2 NPs), which have different kinds of surface charges and measured their adsorption and uptake tendencies by different kinds of cell types. |
