In this study, we investigated optimum condition of substitution and elimination when EDA is introduced on PVC. PVC was prepared with 80% and 99% EDA at different temperature(RT, 50, 70, 90°C). Additionally, PVC solution in THF is also prepared at different temperature(RT, 50, 66°C). FT-IR was used to confirm the chemical structure. Morphology was observed through SEM and atomic contents were analyzed from EDS and XPS for ensuring the degree of amination(substitution). UV-visible spectrometer was also used to characterize the degree of dehydrochlorination(elimination). As a result, the maximum of 17.5% amination reaction and 98% Cl element removal rate are confirmed. Aminated reactants can be used as precursors for the synthesis of ion exchangers. In addition, 98% Cl element removal rate suggested the possibility of effecive PVC disposal that cause environmental problems. |
