Preparation and electrical conductivity of graphene nanosheets using chemical exfoliation technique |

Graphene nanosheets or exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets are now emerging as new promising and commercially viable nanofillers in polymer composites, which could potentially replace carbon nanotubes in many demanding applications. In this study, we successfully prepared graphene nanosheets from synthetic graphite by chemical exfoliation technique followed by reduction using hydrazine. AFM analysis revealed that even ultimate exfoliation into graphene nanosheet with ~1 nm thickness was achieved. The electrical conductivity of the buckypaper from the resulting graphene powders was measured with 4-probe method and will be discussed in terms of the extent of exfoliation achieved and the microstructure of the buckypaper. |
