Electrical characteristics of organic thin-film transistors via controlled evaporative self-assembly |

Conjugated organic molecules with excellent semiconducting behavior can self-assemble in solution into ordered structures with high charge-carrier mobilities close to that of an inorganic silicon semiconductor. Approaches based on spontaneous self-assembly provides an appealing alternative as a simple and cost-effective method that can offer highly ordered surface patterns in an intrinsically scalable manner. In this study, we used TIPS PEN(6,13-bistriisopropylsilylethynyl Pentacene) and TES ADT(Triethylsilylethynyl anthradithiophene) as a semiconductor because it has high solubility. To achieve high ordered structure, controlled evaporative self-assembly method was applied. We observed crystalline behavior depending on surface energy of insulator and evaporation rate. The TFT based on this method was found to have high mobility. |
