In this study, bentonite clay was employed as a support of the catalyst. The as-prepared clay based catalyst was characterized using SEM-EDX, XRD and BET surface area analyses. SEM-EDX analysis showed that iron and manganese oxide particles were significantly immobilized on clay. Moreover, BET surface area analysis indicates a slight increase in the specific surface area after the incorporation of Fe and Mn oxide particles. The effects of pH, initial concentration, and contact time on the degradation of organic pollutants were studied. The removal was very fast and the equilibrium time was achieved within 60 minutes. This study indicates that catalyst is efficient for the degradation of various micropollutants in wastewater treatment technology. |
