Polyacetylenes with peculiar functional pendants have potentials as materials for electric semiconductivity, energy storage devices such as batteries, permselective membrane, solar cells, and, light-emitting devices. Such propargylamine-based conjugated polymers as propargylamine, 4-dimethylamino-N-propargylpyridinium bromide, 4-hydroxy-N-propargylpiperidine, α-propargylphosphonoacetate, and N-propargylamide have been synthesized and the polymer properties were elucidated. Here, we report the polymerization behaviors of N-alkylpropargylamines by using transition metal catalysts. Various instrumental methods such as NMR, IR, and UV-visible spectroscopies were used for the elucidation of the chemical structure of poly(N-alkylpropargylamine). The electro-optical and electrochemical properties of the resulting polymer were measured and discussed. |
