Effect of PEG-based block copolymer for controlled drug release |

Our hypothesis is thatdrug release from biodegradable polymers can be controlled by blending hydrophilic poly(ethyleneglycol) (PEG)-base polymer as additives and also by regulating molecular weight and blending ratio of each polymers. Particularly, we focused on F127 and F68 consisted in PEG-polypropylene glycol (PPG)-PEG among PEG-based copolymers because of FDA approval and application in controlled drug delivery. The effect of PEG-based block copolymer as additives was investigated in controlling drug release from sirolimus (SRL)-loaded biodegradable polymer. The solution of SRL-loaded polymer was coated on stainless steel (SS) by ultrasonic spray. The coating surface of SS was characterized by SEM and their drug-release kinetics were analyzed by HPLC. |
