제목 | Mechanical properties and microstructure change at interface of Al/Cu composite fabricated by extrusion during annealing |
초록 | Mechanical and electrical properties of metal matrix composite depend on both intrinsic properties of bimetal and interface between matrix and reinforcement. In particular, intermetallic composites formed in the interface have a strong effect on their characterization. The control of their formation and growth is important to obtain the materials with optimal properties. In this study, Al/Cu composite was produced by multi-filament extrusion (MFE) process at 523 K. Mechanical and electrical properties of Al/Cu composite were instigated during isothermal aging. Microstructure observation and composition analysis of the interface was carried out scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), respectively. Three kinds of intermetallic composites are observed and they have increased in size as a function of annealing process. Their growth brings about the decrease in the hardness and electrical conductivity of Al/Cu composite. |
