UV curable organic-inorganic hybrid solution was prepared to improve the hardness and transparency of PMMA substrate. Organic-inorganic hybrid solution consists of polyurethane oligomer, functional acrylate monomer as a reactive diluent, nano-sized colloidal silica and methacryoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MAPTMS) as a coupling agent between the organic and inorganic phase. Spin coated hard coating layer on the PMMA substrate was cured via a UV free radical initiator. The different mole ratios of MAPTMS to silica investigated to complete condensation of residual silanols.. The effects of hard coating layer were characterized by nanoindentation, light transmittance. Hard coated PMMA substrate with this hybrid solution was showed slightly improved characteristics such as hardness, adhesion, UV stability, and high transparency. |
