In recent years, high refractive index (high-n) polymers with high optical transparency have attracted much attention for their potential applications in advanced optoelectronic fabrications. Aromatic polyimides (PIs) possess various outstanding properties such as thermal and chemical resistance, adhesion to metal, low dielectric constant and inherent high refractive index. Therefore, much attention has been paid to application of PIs to optical devices. However, there are several problems of PIs for optical applications, The one is that most conventional PIs have refractive index lower than ~1.7 (issue (1)). Another is deep coloration of PIs originated from charge transfer complex between aromatic diamines and aromatic dianhydrides (issue (2)). The novel PIs to remedy each issue described above, have been developed. |
