제목 | Preparation and properties of covalently bonded polypropylene/layered silicate nanocomposites using the modification of clay |
초록 | Polymer/clay nanocomposites were widely used in various applications because they showed substantial enhancements of thermal and mechanical properties compared to conventional filler composites.1 In this work, we studied polypropylene/clay nanocomposites by modified clay with amino silanes2 to introduce new chemical bonds between clay and MAPP. We prepared polypropylene/clay nanocomosites with the polypropylene, modified clay and MAPP through the melt-compounding method. We observed the exfoliated structure of silicate layers in the PP matrix from X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The thermal and mechanical properties of nanocomposites were found to improve substantially over those of the existing nanocomposites. fig. 1.
