제목 Synthesis and characterization of new water-soluble polyimide precursor
초록 Polyimide has been intensively studied and widely used due to its good thermal stability, high chemical resistance, excellent mechanical properties and so on. As PI is insoluble in any solvent, it is thermally or chemically converted from precursor polyamic acid (PAA) dissolved in aprotic polar solvents such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC) and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). But the impact of expensive organic solvent and environmental restrictions has resulted in a concerted effort to develop water dispersible and water soluble polyimide precursors without the sacrifices of the product performance.
In this paper, the new water-soluble polyimide precursor was synthesized through the modification of carboxylic acid group in the polyamic acid (PAA) backbone with dimethyl ethanol amine (DMEA) in the form of salt. The resulted polyamic acid salt (PAAS) was dissolved in water containing small amount of DMEA. Polyimide films were successfully prepared from the PAAS water solution. The thrermal imidization under different temperatures were studied. Mechanical property of dense polyimide films prepared form PAAS water solution were measured and compared to chemically identical polyimide films obtained by conventional PAA.
