Polymer composites are attractive than traditional materials, such as metal composites for these applications due to their high specific strength, corrosion resistance, and high heat distortion temperature. Recently, many attempts have been made to modify epoxy resins with a high-performance engineering thermoplastic that has a high Tg and toughness, such as poly(ether sulfone) (PES). In order to investigate the influence of the addition of PES to epoxy resin, this study evaluated the use of PES as reinforcement to increase the mechanical and thermal properties of epoxy resin. The morphologies, mechanical and thermal properties of epoxy composites with various contents of PES were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, mechanical testing like tensile and impact strength, and thermal testing like TMA and TGA.
