Semiconductor nano-crystals, a form of quantum dot, have unique optical properties arising from the quantum confinement of electron and hole pair. For this reason, synthetic methods for polymer/semiconductor hybrid nanoparticles have received much attention. In this work, we report in-situ synthesis of poly(methyl methacrylate)/CdS nano-composites and investigate their optical properties depending on presence of Cd2+ ions at the initial polymerization stage. The obtained particles were examined by SEM, TEM, PL, and UV-vis. |
