제목 The Release of FITC-BSA from PLGA and PCL Wafers Containing SIS for Protein Delivery
초록 Biodegradable implantable wafer is one of the sustained release formulations to deliver drug, protein, and peptides for long term drug release of local therapy regions. Porcine small intestine submucosa (SIS) as a new natural material mainly composed of collagen and glycosaminoglycan has been widely used as biocompatible materials without immuno-rejection responses. In this study, we focused on the implantable wafers of PLGA and PCL mixed by SIS to control release pattern of bovine serum albumin (BSA) labeled FITC as model protein for long term protein delivery. PLGA and PCL polymers were prepared by ring-opening polymerization in the presence of carbitol as an initiator. The FITC-BSA loaded wafers were fabricated by direct compression method after freeze milling to disperse uniformly into various contents of SIS. The increasement of SIS contents increased the release of FITC-BSA. We confirmed that the release of FITC-BSA from wafer was significantly influenced by the SIS contents with hydrophilic property
