Conjugated oligomers and polymers-based organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) have recently attracted significant research interest because of their advantage, which include low cost, light weight, flexibility, and solution processibility. In particular, solution-processable small molecules (SM) have attracted much scientific and technological research interest because of more straightforward synthesis and purification, less batch-to-batch variation in properties, intrinsic monodispersity and higher charge carrier mobilities. In this work, we report the use of novel benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’]dithiophene-based small molecules in bulk heterojunction solar cells. We systematically investigated the synthesis, thermal stability, optical and electrochemical properties, field-effect carrier mobilities, and photovoltaic characteristics of these conjugated oligomers. Detailed synthesis and characterization results, and device characteristics will be discussed in this presentation. |
