We studied the particles size effect of thermal conductivity in two-phase system. Thermally conductive polymer composites were prepared from various filler, such as silicon carbide and boron nitride, with 22㎛ and 15㎛ particle size respectively. The samples were prepared by hot press and thermal diffusivity was measured by laser-flash method. Consequently, the highest heat conductivity was observed for the composites filled with the boron nitride which had smaller particle size than SiC. The thermal conductivity values of BN and SiC were 1.52 W/m•k and 1.18 W/m•k respectively. It implied that small particles make thermally connecting pathway very easily. We assumed that this effect has a relation with electrostatic repulsion by Agari’s formula. |
