Poly(ether-block-amide) is a thermoplastic elastomer consisting of nylon 12 as a hard segment and poly(tetramethylene oxide) as a soft segment with varying hard/soft segment content. In this study, poly(ether-block-amide)(PEBAX 6333, 60mol% of hard segment)/trisilanophenyl polyhedral oligometric silsesquioxane (Tsp-POSS) nanocomposites were prepared by melt blending in an internal mixer, and their thermal and mechanical properties were investigated by means of DMA, DSC, and tensile testing. Tensile test showed that addition of small amount of Tsp-POSS induced a great increase in tensile modulus, tensile strength and yield stress with simultaneous increase in elongation at break. |
