The acrylic copolymers, which were used as base polymer for pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs), were synthesized by solution polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, lauryl methacrylate, and acrylic acid with AIBN as an initiator. Various kinds of acrylic copolymers were prepared by using various different contents of epoxy-type crosslinking agent (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 phr) and initiator (0.12, 0.24, and 0.36 phr). These acrylic copolymers were investigated in terms of viscosity, peel strength, cohesiveness, gel fraction, and probe tack. Both probe tack and peel strength of the acrylic copolymers having higher content of crosslinking agent decreased after curing due to the increased degree of crosslinking. On the other hand, gel fraction and cohesiveness increased as the content of crosslinking agent increased. |
