Thin Supra-assembled Nanoporous Platforms of End-functionalized Binary Polymer Blends |

We reported previously supra-molecular nanostructures of end-functionalized two polymers, mono-end-sulfonated polystyrene (SPS)/mono-end-aminated poly(ethylene oxide) (APEO). At the stoichiometric composition of the two polymers exhibited both 2 and 3 dimensional multi-layered nanostructure in which approximately 20 nm spherical APEO domains were pseudo-hexagonally organized over very large area. Subsequent removal of APEO, allowed for inverse opal type nanoporous structure whose internal spherical surface was abundant of sulfonated functional groups of SPS capable of further modification with other functional materials. Our supra-assembled nanoporous films with tailored surface functionality offer a useful platform for various chemical and biological applications. |
