Preparation and Release Characteristics of pH-Sensitive Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Poly(acrylic acid) Microcapsules Containing Drug |

The pH-sensitive poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) / poly(acrylic acid) (PAAc) IPN microcapsules were prepared by using surface-treated SiO2 and drug with oil-in-water emulsion polymerization. The features of the microcapsules were investigated in terms of manufacturing conditions and pH-sensitivity behaviors. The shape and structural feature of the microcapsules were studied by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope. The role of interfacial adhesion between PVA/PAAc and drug was studied by contact angle measurements. The controlled release behaviors were examined by UV/VIS spectroscopy. |
