Hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) has various special properties including high hydrophobicity with low surface energy, unique flexibility, low glass transition temperature, chemical inactivity, high temperature stability, UV stability and so on. To incorporate these properties of PDMS into UV-curable waterborne PU acylates, a series of NCO-terminated PDMS based polyurethane prepolymers were prepared by polyaddition reaction, and then UV-curable waterborne PDMS based PU acrylates(PU acrylate prepolymers) were prepared by an addition of 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate(HEA) to NCO-terminated PU acrylate prepolymers. UV-curable mixtures were formulated from the prepolymer(90%), reactive diluent monomer trimethylol propane triacrylate(TMPTA, 10%), and photoinitiator 1-hydoroxycyclohexyl ketone, 3wt% based on prepolymer/diluent. The effects of different PDMS content on the thermal and physical properties of UV-cured waterborne PDMS based PU acrylate films were examined. |
