Various types of ceramic compounds are widely used as substitues for hard tissues. However, the improvement of the biofunctioality of ceramic materials has not yet been explored fully. One way to achieve this goal can be combination of ceramic material and drug component. This presentation reports the feasibility of the ceramic-drug combination for the enhancement of bioactivity of ceramic in terms of osteoblastic differentiation. The combined specimens was prepared by sol-gel method. The physical properties of the specimens were analyzed using XPS, goniometer, FE-SEM. The osteoblastic proliferation and differentiation were examined using an osteoblast cellline. Result demonstrated the biofunctionality regarding osteoblast differentiation was considerably increased by the combination of drug component. |
