제목 Facile CO2 sequestration into CaCO3 using alkonalamines
초록 Anthropogenic climatic changes caused by carbon dioxide (CO2) released by combustion of fossil has attracted most of researchers to capture and sequester CO2. This study deals the sequestration of absorbed CO2 by alkanolamines such as sterically hindered amine, amine, 2-amino 2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (AMP), or tertiary (MDEA) amines to CaCO3. The CO2 capturing capacity of MDEA and AMP were 0.70, and 0.85 mole/mole of CO2, respectively. AMP produces an unstable carbamate intermediate and converted to bicarbonate through a zwitterion mechanism. Since, MDEA contains no hydrogen bound to the nitrogen, it directly produce bicarbonate. The carbonization of absorbed CO2 was carried out by adding Ca2+ ion in the presence and absence of biocatalyst, carbonic anhydrase. The precipitated CaCO3 was characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, and FT-IR.  The observed results and properties of alkanolamine sorbents suggested, high and direct conversion of absorbed CO2 to CaCO3.
